[Letter] 1850 Aug. 29, Shelbyville, Ky. to "My dear nephew" [John A. Broadus] / W.F. Broaddus. 1850.

After hearing of the death of J.A. Broadus's father, Edmund Broadus, who was William F. Broaddus's older brother, Broaddus wrote "it is indeed a sad thing to hear of a brother's death - more mournful still must it have been to you, to witness the death struggles of a Father so worthy to be loved." He proceeded to tell his nephew of the death of his own son, Crawford, of cholera, on August 10, of the same year. Mentions his brother Andrew and "our only surviving sister, Lucy Ferguson, Taylorsville, Ill.
